Pimp My Fatwa

This is a post I did on my home blog back on May 10th of last year. If Mohammed being a child molestor isn't enough for some of you to see the rationale of our ridicule, and our right to portray images of him in an unflattering light, then maybe the notion of muta'a will. Mohammed is NOT a divine figure, he was a simple thug, a child molestor, and a pimp. If you can't handle the truth, that's your problem. Also, this is an old post, so some links may be expired. If you have a problem with that, I'll email you my home address and you can come burn down my embassy. Would you like to know something else? I could care less what 1 billion Muslims think. The truth hurts, don't it?

SC&A, ever concerned for my safety and well-being, may get me on the fatwa list even before Rusty and Jane. He sent me a link to a link to a USA Today article concerning the Muslim practice of "pleasure marriages."

...The 1,400-year-old practice of muta'aÃƒÂ¢Ã¢Â‚Â¬Â” "ecstasy" in Arabic ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢Â‚Â¬Â” is as old as Islam itself. It was permitted by the prophet Mohammed as a way to ensure a respectable means of income for widowed women...

Pleasure marriages were outlawed under Saddam Hussein but have begun to flourish again. The contracts, lasting anywhere from one hour to 10 years, generally stipulate that the man will pay the woman in exchange for sexual intimacy...

...A woman agreeing to a pleasure marriage that involves a one-time encounter might be able to count on about $100. For a muta'a that runs longer, she might be paid $200 a month, though the amounts vary widely and can depend on whether she has children.

So, in addition to being a child molester (I've read different accounts, one site said he married a 9 year old, another said six), Mohammed was a pimp. A benevolent pimp to be sure, after all, who doesn't feel sorry for lonely, broke widows. Of course, nowadays, the Koran is open to interpretation:

A turbaned Shiite cleric who issues wedding permits from a street-side counter in Sadr City says he encourages permanent marriages but gives the OK for pleasure marriages when there are "special reasons." The cleric, Sayid Kareem As-Sayid Abdullah Al-Mousawi, says he grants licenses for muta'a in cases where the woman is widowed or divorced, or for single women who have approval from their fathers.

That's right, you dads out there, convert to Islam and you too can be a pimp. Pimp-daddy, if you will. What the f**k, change your name to P. Diddy.

Is there an alternative? Well, yes. The treatment of Muslim women is well documented. They can avoid the whole "pleasure marriage" route, do what they want, be irresponsible, get naked and throw down with whoever they want.

And be the victim of an honor killing.

Prostitution or death. What a choice the Religion of Peace gives to its adherents.

Now I'll have to change the name. The Religion of Peace and Big Pimpin' Page. Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

Where's N.O.W. when you need them? Does Code Pink have an opinion on this issue?

Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, the highest religious authority in Shiite Islam, sets conditions and obligations for muta'a on his Web site. ("A woman with whom temporary marriage is contracted is not entitled to share the conjugal bed of her husband and does not inherit from him ..."

First off, I thought Sistani was the highest authority in Iraq, not all Shiite Islam. But, that's beside the point. This is the guy we're always reading about who is apparently eager to see a free, secular Iraq borne from the ashes of tyranny.

And he's just a pimp.

1 Here's my dilemma. a) I'm for the legalization of prostitution. b) I believe prostitution is immoral. So, this gets it 180 degrees backward! I want religious authorities to condemn prostitution and secular authorities to keep it legal. I don't want a state (like Iran) which legally outlaws prostitution but then comes up with essentially its equivalent, yet wrapped in the guise of relgion.

2 I believe that about 99% of what our government does is immoral and unconstitutional, but it mostly isn't illegal. Morality and legality rarely cross paths.

Such men as Voltaire, Franklin, Paine, Locke, Jefferson, et al, would not even have existed in any other place, because only in the West were people allowed to develop intellectually as they themselves saw fit. At least after the Catholic Church stopped burning them, but that's another argument.

1 Rusty We have all seen thousands of cartoons over the years insulting to muslims and arabs in particular. My favorite is a Scud missile in a camel's mouth while an arab with a sledge hammer is poised to smack the camel in the testicles. let's have more of it - fine with me - but why Mohammed? The Danish artists targeted Mohammed for a very specific reason - and I do know why. We don't need to go there - not because of muslim sensiblities - but in keeping with our own. If muslims don't reciprocate - hell with them - so what!

2 I think that Green gives Hollywood far too much credit. As long as a conservative is in the White House, they'll side with the enemies of their enemy. That's presumably why they didn't react to Theo Van Gogh's murder. Another reason may be that while riding a bicycle is environmentally concious, it's not as hip as a Toyota Prius, so coolness points were lost there. An offensive offensive won't do any good. At present there isn't a whole lot that will do a lot of good because we're never prepared for the response. There's no united front. Look at the diverse reactions to the cartoon rage. Some Western officials defended the cartoons, others railed against it, embassies were hastily abandonned, while foreigners in the Middle East ran for the hills. All this is perceived as weakness and without a doubt encouraged the chaos we see going on now. Until the West is willing to stand together, regardless of the pressure, we'll always be in a state of falling back until there's nowhere to fall back to.

6 Rusty, actus illustrates why letting slip the dogs of war is a bad idea. It takes people's attention off the behaviour of the islamooslims and draws it towards us. So while the mooslims are acting the barbarians, people like actus are tongue-tied and speechless, pretending not to notice (but they do). But as soon as you let slip a comment about "culture war", out of nowhere the Leftards find their tongues again. I say this is the muslim's time in the sun; let's not distract people's attention away from them. 9 I don't think we have to get into a deity porno war with these people when our greatest weapon against them is who we are, how we live, how we love and respect our families, how we strive to better our societies for eveybody, how we are there for other countries in time of disasters and to a capacity unmatched by the rest of the world. no I think the most damaging wound inflicted on them is when look at the world around them and realize where they have been and where they are going as a society. But for now they are shielded from this reality by their religious leaders who have convinced them that they have to destroy what they cannot achieve.

Is Islam Compatible With Democracy? (Updated: Warning--geeky references to methodology)

I started out tapping out a comment to Rusty's post on this topic, but it grew to the point that I decided to publish it as a separate essayette. Rusty graciously establishes the empirical parameters of this thesis, but I don't think they necessarily address the issue:

If one were really interested in seeing whether or not there is a relationship between Islam and liberalism, I would suggest the following. In fact, I dare any one to run the following analysis.
Hypothesis: there is a strong correlation between the percent of a nation's population that is Muslim and the extent to which that country's population is free in the liberal sense of the word.
Null Hypothesis: there is no relationship between the percent of a nation's population that is Muslim and the extent to which that country's population is free in the liberal sense of the word.
Plot a simple OLS regression model with the two variables. The first variable would simply be % Muslim. The second variable would be the Freedom House numbers. Since the Freedom House Numbers are coded negatively the following results should be found.....
If we are agreed that the above is a moderately fair way of empircally testing the relationship between Islam and tyranny, then the gauntlet has been thrown. I personally do not have the time to run the numbers, but perhaps some enterprising blogger with moderate experience using SPSS would like to give it a go?

The problem with this method is that, while it's a reasonable way of testing the relationship between Islam and political freedom, that's not the research question that's being considered. more...

Well, not two weeks ago there was lots of polling data suggesting that the extremists were losing the battle for hearts and minds across the Middle East. So, given that, it shouldn't be a surprise that they'd launch some sort of propaganda offensive to change the parameters of the fight. They've partly succeeded, but they've also created a host of unintended consequences that might easily work to their disadvantage. For instance, the nature of the confrontation has changed. It's clear that the instigators of the main riots and destruction are not the average "man on the street" in Damascus, but agents of the Bashir regime itself. I submit that this suggests weakness, rather than strength, as does the fact that they had to include two cartoons that were not in the original publication in order to get people riled.

5 Demo We just about see it the same way. Islam lends itself to tyranny very easily - but a case can be made for virtually anything - it being just a question of ease. I don't believe its incompatible with democracy though it will be different. It remains to be seen however - and I want to see this thru. I do see these events as a staged tactic on the part if the islamists and their allies (Syria's participation is kinda wierd though) - and as a sign of growing weakness. on their part. More like a frenzied hyped pep rally to bring/force them together. I also see this as a sign of weakness in Europe - notice how the islamists target weakness - shia crowds, schools, mosques in Iraq with bombings - current events in Europe (don't for a minute think Spain's pullout didn't help lit the fuse).

7 Hondo, you are exactly right, and I and many others here said that Spain's capitulation would only cause things to get worse. We now look like sages, except it is so easy to see one wonders why the Europeans couldn't see it at the time. I remember being called a racist by several Europeans for suggesting that Europe confront the Muslim radicals before it was too late.

9 Forest: The phrase "man on the street" refers to the concept of an average, or mean... so by definition I'm not talking about the "ululating, slobbering, hate filled, bags of flesh." Moreover, there have been a lot of anti-terror demonstrations in Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon that don't get much play on our media... so given the opposition they have to contend with they might actually be more a man than I.

One site puts it thus: In Western democracy, the people are sovereign; in Islam sovereignty is vested in Allah and the people are His caliphs or representatives. As Allah is the source of all law, parliaments are not needed to make laws. All that the state needs is the Khalifate to enforce the laws of Allah. Thus democracy is a direct challenge to the innate authority of Allah and the sharia since the law of Allah cannot be changed or challenged. And it is all a load of BS :-)

Omar Bakri Mohammed: "Cartoonists Should Be Executed"

It is no surprise that these words should come from radical exiled cleric Omar Bakri Mohammed. Why no surprise? Because the now infamous rally outside of Denmark's embassy in London--where signs calling for cartoon blasphemers to be beheaded were seen--was staged by al Ghurabaa. This is the group that had previously posted on their website that all those who blaspheme Muhammed should be executed. As we reported here, al Ghurabaa is composed of followers of Omar Bakri Mohammed.

Telegraph:

Â“The insult has been established now by everybody, Muslim and non-Muslim, and everybody condemns the cartoonist and condemns the cartoon,Â” he told BBC Radio 4Â’s Today programme. Â“However, in Islam, God said, and the messenger Mohammed said, whoever insults a prophet, he must be punished and executed. This man should be put on trial and if it is proven to be executed.Â”
The cleric said Muslims in Britain were not allowed to kill people who insulted Islam because it was against the law of the country.
Â“We are not saying ourselves to go there and start to look to him and kill him, we are not talking about that. We are talking about Islamic rules. If anybody insults the prophet, he will have to take a punishment.Â”
He said if countries refused to put people on trial for insulting Mohammed they must Â“face the consequencesÂ”.

So, Omar Bakri Mohammed is making the same arguement I have been making. That the individual Muslim is not necessarily a threat--he is not calling for individual Muslims to kill blasphemers--but rather that when Muslims take over a country and institute sharia law, after you have been convicted of blasphemy in a court of law, off with your head. Thus, the ideology of Islam is what is the larger threat.

4 This calling for the execution of the cartoonists development is not surprising. Mohammed ordered the execution of his critics in his day and seeing how he is held up as the supreme example of human behaviour muslims must emulate if they are to attain place in paradise its only normal that muslims think that this the way to go. So, what are we doing about it? Nothing much. We sit around writing our posts in this and other forums, the only people who read them are the already converted. I have tried to explain the realities of Islam to the PC mindless drones and they refuse to engage in any meaningful dialogue preferring to spew out the terrorists have hijacked Islam fantasy, out of context peaceful loving & tolerant Islam quotes and point out that the incorrect myth that the Christian past was no less evil. It is interesting to note that the Jews in ghettos of Europe during WW II were told about the death camps but they refused to believe. Even though they had people among them who informed them what was coming, the majority ignored all the signs, lived in denial until they were led to their slaughter like sheep. In the one instance (Warsaw Ghetto) that they did fight back, it was to late. Any way when push come to shove, I am not going to be one of the sheep. The climate of PC in the real world is so pervasive its sickening. If this keeps up, Islam will dominate the world, sooner rather than later. 6 Well, the muslim radicals of the world have finally made their case for us to declare them mentally ill and incompetent to make any further decisions for themselves whatsoever. These people have to be the most self-centered people I have seen in quite a while. THEY are not allowed to "make images" of their prophet. FINE, so they aren't. Last time I looked, their rules did not apply to non-muslims. Now they want Denmark to punish the cartoonist, who did nothing wrong in his own country, and have the nerve to get angry at countries who won't do anything about it, extending to the Netherlands, England, and other countries. They really HATE the freedoms of speech, expression, and freedoms PERIOD. That should never be more evident than right now with the way they are acting, killing people, burning buildings, cutting important ties to countries who are trying to help them rebuild, even cutting off access to medicine for their own people - all because someone made fun of them and their senseless violence. They try to blame their bad behaviour on their "religion", but if they were really SO offended by cartoons, WHY has it taken them so long to their panties in a bunch? The drawings happend last September for crying out loud! The answer is simple - this is just an excuse for these radical morons to get everyone on their bandwagon. What makes me mad is that they have managed to get alot of people to apologize for legal free speech, including the bird-brained liberals here in this country. These terroristic idiots must be rolling on the floor laughing. They have managed to get the free world to not only apologize for being free, but to "feel their pain" when what we should should be doing is condemning their violent selfish displays, their complete intolerance, and their attempts to make everyone live and believe the way the do. If radical Islam were a child -, willful, spoiled, and acting out because it did't get its way, we would give that child a good spanking. Aren't we tired of this YET ???????????

It's not so much that I blame CNN for not running the controversial Muhammed cartoon, as much as I wish they'd be just a tad bit more honest about it. They claim they won't run the picturs out of religious sensitivities, yet the same organization had no problems running images of the dung covered Mary. No, it's not hypocrisy. It's called fear.

The Problem is 'Islamophobia'

Iran's official news agency bemoans the spread of Islamophobia in Europe:

"Unfortunately, Islamophobia is currently spreading in Europe in different forms and at an alarming speed.
"Insult to Islamic values and Muslims' sanctity in the West has been now turned into a main challenge facing the Islamic nations now. It is vital to seriously confront this challenge," Mottaki said.

Meanwhile, Reuters reports that Islamist thugs in a government-organized demonstration attacked the Austrian embassy in Teheran with Molotov cocktails.

The regrettable "Islamophobia" problem follows other evil Western obsessions like "Jew-burning-Naziphobia", "Mass-murdering-Communistphobia", and, of course, "Baby-blood-drinking-Mongolhordephobia".

Lies, Damned Lies, Statistics, and Islam

Dean Esmay has a pretty good post about whether or not Islam compatible with democracy or not. Go read it.

Also, after you have read it you should probably read my essay Marx, Communism, Totalitarianism; Muhammed, Islam, Terrorism, in which I argue that Islam is a socio-political ideology every bit as much as it is a religion. It is much like Marxism in that the core ideology itself leads is incompatible with Western liberalism.

Now, let's return to Dean's post. Unfortunately, the data he provides is a classic example of what statisticians call selection bias. That is, you use data which supports your hypothesis and then exclude data which nullifies it.

Another problem is that the data do show that Muslim nations are becoming more free. A good sign, no doubt. But becoming more free does not make one free. One might argue that China is becoming more free, or that the Soviet Union in the late 1980s was becoming less authoritarian, yet there is no doubt in my mind that Communism is somehow intertwined with the fact that freedom was so scarce. Becoming more or less of anything is kind of irrelevant to the discussion.

Further, Indonesia has been a terrible ally in the war on terror. See this, this, this, this, and this. They have not cracked down on radical Muslims any more than has suited their own national interests. It is in no way a liberal democracy. Freedom House is simply wrong in this respect. I would point out that it is a crime for a Christian to give a Bible to a Muslin in Indonesia. And much of the Indonesian culture itself is not tolerant in any liberal sense of the word. And is a country truly a liberal democracy if a pictureless version of Playboy is banned?

Last, he gives the example of Senegal and Mali as the only nations on earth that have a Muslim majority and which are listed by Freedom House as liberal democracies (excluding Indonesia). Given that Freedom House gets it dead wrong on Indonesia, I suspect that there may be problems with their coding of Senegal and Mali as well. But I could be wrong. I don't know enough about these countries to speak on whether or not Freedom House correctly codes them.

However, statistically speaking two examples do not a falsification make. There are always exceptions to rules. My original point was that the Left loved to use Yugoslavia as an exemple of a 'free' Communist country. Even if we were to grant them that Yugoslavia was 'free' during the Cold War, to claim that there was not a causal relationship between Communism and totalitarianism based on a single outlier is an example of poor analysis (or poor operationalizing skills).

If one were really interested in seeing whether or not there is a relationship between Islam and liberalism, I would suggest the following. In fact, I dare any one to run the following analysis.

Hypothesis: there is a strong correlation between the percent of a nation's population that is Muslim and the extent to which that country's population is free in the liberal sense of the word.

Null Hypothesis: there is no relationship between the percent of a nation's population that is Muslim and the extent to which that country's population is free in the liberal sense of the word.

Plot a simple OLS regression model with the two variables. The first variable would simply be % Muslim. The second variable would be the Freedom House numbers. Since the Freedom House Numbers are coded negatively the following results should be found.

If Dean is right, and there is no relationship between Islam and freedom, then obviously the plots should be completely randomly distributed.

If I am right, and there is a relationship between Islam and freedom, then a positively sloping line should emerge. That is to say, as the percentage of Muslims in a country goes up, the Freedom House numbers should also go up.

The third alternative, of course, is that there is a positive correlation between Islam and liberal democracy, in which case one would find a negatively sloping line.

If we are agreed that the above is a moderately fair way of empircally testing the relationship between Islam and tyranny, then the gauntlet has been thrown. I personally do not have the time to run the numbers, but perhaps some enterprising blogger with moderate experience using SPSS would like to give it a go? more...

2 I must say that I do see most countries with a Muslim majority as not truely "free" in any sense of the word, however the one country in the above article that always draws in my interest is Turkey. The Turks seemed to have done a much better job of integrating the freedoms of the West with the teachings of Islam. Using the cartoon fiasco as an example, I have not heard of any mass rioting in Turkey in response to these cartoons. While it is not yet fully integrated with the teachings of a true democracy, and I will not be happy until it does, Turkey may be a good country to look at as to where to start "converting" a nation from Islam to a true democracy.

5 Let's see. I have had two death threats made against me by people from Turkey over this cartoon issue. I would not allow Turkey to enter the EU for any reason. Europe will be flooded with radical Muslims, who make up between 25-40 per cent of the Turkish population. Geoff, the people of Europe need to study Turkey very carefully. The trends are not encouraging, as the radicals and even jihadists are seeing gains in power and influence. I would never let Turkey enter the EU. The power of Islam is just too great a risk. Of course, that is just my opinion, but I urge caution.

9 If you look at Jesus' and Paul's philosophy, you would expect all Christian countries to be pacifist communes. Fortunately, for most of Christianity's history the masses were unable to read the Bible, so the West was mercifully spared these ideas. By the time it was translated into the vernacular, a firm tradition of not taking inconvenient portions of the Holy Writ seriously had been established which continues to the present day. The modern Christian can bomb people and get rich while he imagines he follows the Prince of Peace who despised wealth. On the other hand you have the Muslims. They have been cursed with a Holy Book that they can read. Worse still, the text actually makes sense--not that it's *good* advice, mind you, but at least it sounds like something other than what you'd find scrawled in purple crayon by a schizophrenia patient. Worst of all, it actually sounds good. No kidding. By all accounts Koran is spellbinding poetry to native speakers of Arabic, and of course they believe every word because it's beautiful. The entire Middle East has been enthralled for 1300 years by an uncommonly good MTV rotation. Imagine if all U.S. domestic and foregn policy had been founded on the lyrics of Tracy Chapman and Madonna! We hope that the Muslims will follow in the spiritual footsteps of the West so we won't have to blast the whole lot of them to bits. We hope that Mohammed and the Koran will become revered yet disregarded figures for Islam as Jesus and the Bible are for Christianity. In blunt language we hope that the Muslims will grow a pair of nuts and learn to thrust their moral opinions into the mouth of God like Christians have been doing since the Enlightenment. I'm not confident that they will. These people love their poetry and they're not all that brave.

12 No, many Muslim nations are our allies. But alliances are formed over mutual interests, and not necessarily mutual ideologies. Just because they are less repressive than, say, the Taliban does not mean that they are not repressive. Bill, Trend analysis only matters based on assumption that the trend line continues in one direction. But as you well know there is such a thing as a plateu. Also, to say Islam is the root cause of Muslim theocratic tyranny and the vast majority of terrorism in the world is not to say we should not support regimes like the ones that are emerging in Iraq and Afghanistan. It should be remembered that Afghanistan does not allow freedom of religion, even post Taliban. Nor in Iraq. Yet, we support them because their brand of tyranny is far better than the tyranny they replaced. That is to say, it is in our interests that what passes for a democracy in an Islamic country be established in Iraq and Afghanistan but it is folly to imagine that Afghanis might ever be free spread the good news of Krishna.

Ask yourself before others why is it important to us to accept a big lie in history that this matter took place during a second world war. Facts millions and millions of people were killed no one till today knows where there graves are. On the soviet side alone (Russia) lost 20 million people whom were killed during war, so how they are calling for the holocaust that it is a fact if many millions were also killed. How can any one prove that those so called concentration camps were not for Jews but for troops during the war? It is the biggest lie in history and today leaders in Europe are supporting the Jews not for any thing but to stay in the power. Jews are black milling Europeans to pay for a big lie. People in Europe are illiterate of history it is the second generation who are living in Europe and those who were alive during the war days they were kidnapped by the allies during the war to write history the way new comers want it. It is not clearer than today that nothing in history took place was called the holocaust. This is a real fabrication done by liars in Europe received money by rich Jews to be either silent or supporter for the big lie. We and every body know that the gas rooms, concentration camps are all false incidents to collect long-term benefits through all European governments. No one knows the true of the lie except the fabricators from the Jews who took all the advantages from Europe. Do I dare in Europe to express this idea in the media do I dare to talk in the TV do I dare to announce this in the newspaper. Where is freedom to talk about the biggest lie in history? In addition, till when we should accept the false history I will say the truth.

$700 Million Missing From Palestinian Accounts

Now, here's a situation where money turns up missing in a kleptocracy. Not unusual. In all candor, I would have been falling-down astonished if the books had even come close to balancing with all funds accounted for.

From ArabNews.com:

At least $700 million of funds from the Palestinian Authority's coffers have been misused or stolen by officials over the past few years. Citing an internal investigation, Palestinian Attorney-General Ahmed Al-Moghani told reporters yesterday that 50 cases of "financial and administrative corruption" had been discovered and 25 officials arrested so far.
He said 10 officials had fled abroad but that the Palestinian Authority was seeking their extradition.
"The amount of money that was squandered and stolen is more than $700 million," Moghani said. "Some of these millions were transferred into personal accounts here and abroad."

Hamas spokesman Mushir Al-Masri said it will be a top priority for the new government to go after the corrupt officials who stole the money and bring them to justice. Good luck with getting the money back.

I expect Hamas will begin complaining and whining about the sorry state of finances, blaming it all on the corrupt previous administration. Then, fresh corrupt officials will go to work in the Hamas government and it will be business as usual.

1 Uh, Mike, what is really happening here is that the PA is building a case for foreign aid. With Hamas coming into power, the PA has decided to help Hamas obtain more funding from the West by pointing out the corruption of the PA. Hell, we all knew they were corrupt, so why was money sent to these people to begin with. Whether Hamas is corrupt of not doesn't matter, because any aid sent to them will either be used to purchase arms or to free up other funds for the purchase of arms. They should receive nothing from the West, not one red cent!

Chief - I agree with you except I think plenty of cash will be diverted into the foreign bank accounts of the money handlers. Sure, they'll buy weapons but they'll skim some for themselves.

European Islamists Counter Danes With Cartoons Depicting Hitler, Holocaust

A European Islamic organization called the Arab European League has countered the recent cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed with cartoons of their own, questioning the Holocaust and showing Anne Frank in bed with Hitler. This statement explains their rationale:

After the lectures that Arabs and Muslims received from Europeans on Freedom of Speech and on Tolerance. And after that many European newspapers republished the Danish cartoons on the Prophet Mohammed. AEL decided to enter the cartoon business and to use our right to artistic expression.
Just like the newspapers in Europe claim that they only want to defend the freedom of speech and do not desire to stigmatise Muslims,we also do stress that our cartoons are not meant as an offence to anybody and ought not to be taken as a statement against any group, community or historical fact.
If it is the time to break Taboos and cross all the red lines, we certainly do not want to stay behind.

While I'm reproducing one of the cartoons below in the spirit of fairplay, I certainly don't endorse the message. more...

4 The thing is, the picture of Muhammed with a bomb as a turban is sort of justified given that the Islamic terrorists carry out their deeds to the cries of "Allahu akbar", giving the impression that the Koran and the Muslim religion is a primary source of motivation for the terrorists. Comparing that to Hitler in bed with one of his victims doesn't even make sense.

I understand how people can be insulted. We split religion and the state back in the 1700s while islam is just coming to terms with this. Islamic societies have a hard time with bottom-up power structures, meaning they are usually hierarchical and you obey the book and your leaders. I have great iranian friends. They live a double life within the confines of their house and out on the streets. its sad to see them suffer having to behave in certain ways just because a book written 1500 years ago tells you you have to do that. it's gonna take a lot of understanding for uneducated muslims to understand that if you were born in china you had no choice being buddhist or toaist and that islam is not the only religion out there and salvation is only possible via islam..ditto that with evangelical christians....

13 I think the Hitler-Ann Frank connection is ridiculous but, it is within the realm of free speech and expression, and I much prefer this approach as opposed to the call for violence, which is unacceptable and should be dealt with in the harshest of ways by the West. Whoever advocated violence should be sent back to whatever country they came from, or if they were born in the West, they should have their citizenship revolked and sent to whatever is the country of their heritage. And before you say anything, reacting to the threat of violence is quite different than the one who proposed violence as a solution, and you know who you are.

23 An insulting cartoon doesn't take much effort (see Hitler screwing a jewish child) if it doesn't bear some semblance of similarity to the object of its ridicule. Hitler, for instance, is considered to have had an aversion to sex of any kind. (It is theorized he was a homosexual in denial). So depicting him molesting a young jewish child is simply gratuitous, and not very clever. That is in stark contrast with the depictions of Mohammed with an exploding head, because muslims are terrorists. That, you can argue, is clever. Also, this Hitler/Ann Frank cartoon should be seen in light of the fact that Mohammed himself was a pedophile (his "wife" was only 12 years old). What we have here, therefore, is an obvious case of projection at a very subconcious level by our muslim cartoonist. Pedophilia, like jihad, runs like an unbroken thread through his religion all the way back to its founder. Subconsciously, it appears in their cartoons. As a side note, young boys and homosexuality are are still very popular in the muslim world given their women are completely hidden from view under burkas. I had a Paki (Pashtun) friend in college who used to laugh about male-on-male gang rapes at university.

The Muhammad cartoon was pointing out that the Muslims have to address the issue of suicide bombers in their midst. The cartoon and perhaps even the idea behind it might indeed have been offensive but it was making a point..this is just a childish "if you can do it I can to" response.

There are laws that prohibit acts of arson, riots, anarchy and threating citizens lives because you don't like what they published. To all the Muslims out there. If you move to a country that allows free speech, it comes with the territory, like it or not. We don't change our laws if you're offended or if you've been insulted. The problem with some that migrate to others countries is your attitude, "I don't like this, I don't like that, so change it cause I said so". You have a lot of nerve coming into a country and demanding what should and shouldn't be allowed under our laws. I told him if it was the later, in contravention of the Constituion, I was afraid that I would have to use whatever method necessary to defend the Constitution and the People of the US. There were two talk show hosts who had a great radio program, called the Intelligence report. Thousands of Muslims demonstrating and buring European flags on television, and, Europeans becoming accepting of a globalsit attack on Iran and Syria. At the time of the attacks, the US Congress was putting pressure on Israel to treat the Palestinans more humainly. The Congress had even talked about cutting aid to Israel. Just a couple of months later, the September 11th attacks took place and there was no more talk of cutting aid to Israel. Here are just some of the people whom I believe were involved in the September 11th attacks. It is a wide spectrum group, but, I believe that all had an interest in bringing about the New World Order. George Schultz, Jim Baker, Joe Liberman, Joe Biden, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, Dick Cheney, Douglas Feith, Karl Rove, Douglas Feith, Isadore Libby. Bush? Daddy Bush for sure, Baby Bush, well, they used this dullard to be the front man, the same as they used Reagan after the Bush family tried to assisinate him in Reagans first months in office.

But in the process they will gain the silent but burning emnity of tens of millions of these previously neutral (and even friendly) Westerners who will resent them for it. The more these Westerners see their own governments and media bending over to appease those barbarians, the more that enmity will burn in their souls. And in the long run, this will only work against the islamooslamists, and in favor of the West. Like 9/11, this is going to be a real wake up call.

4 I'm not sure I really expect our authority figures to tell the Muslim World to "get over it," but it might be kind of refreshing. I guess there'd be an immediate wave of violence and the anti-war crowd would blame BushHitlerBurtonBlair for any property damage or loss of life. And one generally doesn't start a political career in order to put that sort of stamp on one's posterity. But the secondary effect might well be beneficial, if Islam begins to get the notion that we're a little bit crazy about our values. And, I suppose one ought to have some respect for the religious convictions of others, even though it probably wouldn't be reciprocated. But... like... they're burning embassies... over a carfreakin'toon! I mean, look in the mirron once in awhile, Islam! Zip your fly. Rotate your nose, so the rain doesn't pour in. Pull your pants up. 9 the police have been studying the pictures of the protests over the weekend and have set up a special unit to deal with prosecuting anyone they deem to have broke the law. one of the protesters has has made a speech of apology today after he attended the protest dressed as a suicide bomber....he didnt seem very genuine to me in his apology but there was a cleric standing over his shoulder as he said it. jack straw by the way was very embarresed a few years ago after speaking out against drugs.....only for the british press to expose his son is a pot head.

14 I think it's fair to say i know a lot of people, as most of us do. I cant say I know anyone who doesn't feel strongly about the importance of, say, saving rain forests, in reducing harmful greenhouse gasses, that the war is "not in my name", etc. Sound beliefs for a greater good. But whilst we all feel an inner conflict about these and other issues, not once have I, or to my knowledge anyone I know, attended a protest march about any of them. Cowardice? Perhaps. Maybe it would take just a few more reports replete with statistics to spur us into full blown action. We DO know something needs to be done and we DO hope that things will change. But for now at least, we'll sit back and see what happens next. My point is simply this. London prides itself on being multi-cultural, each corner of the world is represented here and this has many benifits. The many Muslim communities here and all over Britain are more prominent than any other minority, and those few extremists flaunting their anger at the recent protests are a greater minority still..Just as those anonymous faces at the 'save fossil fuel' marches seem a minority to me. They are only the tip of the ice-berg, and our government knows it.

My Jordanian roommate once told me that the most popular TV show in Jordan was the Gong Show, but when people watched it no one laughed. They just sat around staring at the tube with a grim expression on their faces. It sounded impossibly strange at the time, but now I think I understand. It's like the painful experience of a young girl who shows up for the Prom in a hand-me-down dress with a big drek stain on the front. God, thinking Muslims must be totally mortified... like they've been shoved out the front door absent their pants. Even the America-hating Left is cracking up. 3 Vinnie Interesting isn't it - places like Denmark being in the vanguard of giving the West accessiblity and legitimacy of Pornography - and not just any porn. They were for a long time ground zero for kiddieporn - till forced deeper underground - they remain the king of beastial*** - now must complete with the Germans for the fringe SM and fetish crowds. 5 Hondo: Our societal "problems" are not under the surface. And openness on sexuality is not part of these problems, but part of the solution. Every society has its child molesters. In one recent case in Denmark, a "father" prostituted his 10 year old daughter. Seven of the customers who are now charged - were turks! According to the newspapers these turks had no understanding that fucking a 10 year old girl could be in any way more wrong that fucking any other hole. So my guess is child molestation is far more widespread in muslim countries, it is just not perceived as such. My guess is that their fucked up views of sexuality are a great part of the reason for this. And where was it now, that raped women are being punished for adultery? Oh, right. -Lasse

Muslims Choose Christian Schools

An increasing number of Muslims living in Norway have over the past few years chosen to send their children to private Christian schools, NRK reports.
At the Christian Regnbuen school in Oslo, 20 out of a hundred students are Muslims. Other private schools in Oslo, like St Sunniva and Kristelig Gymnasium, also have many Muslim students.

According to Dean Lars Bjoerge Holm at Kristelig Gymnasium, the Christian schools and students respect and understand Islam to a much greater degree than public schools. I am fairly certain that the Muslims are not as magnanimous.

It also has to be distressing to the fundamentalists that their sons and daughters are walking around school hallways with images of Jesus Christ on the walls. (via John Ray)

3 The St Albert's story was hyped up nonsence. Some local reporter looking for a story focused on a couple of local muslim idiots (self-proclaimed community leaders) and their rhetoric for shock value. Notice no one bothered with the feelings and opinions of the students and their parents of said school - or even bothered to consult the school. UK media lends itself to hoaxes and deliberately infamatory stretches quite too easy. Well-heeled muslims in much of Europe do favor Chistian and Catholic private schools. Oddly enough because they are a tolerant and respectful environments with strong traditional and moral values. European (progressive) public schools reflect their societies. They are NOT tolerant of religion - they are indifferent and often hostile to the very concept of religion (all religions). Irreligion and mild to outright atheism are what they represent. I'm no fan of islam - but I know many take their religion and belief systems very seriously. The Europeans, as a general rule, have a problem which they can't even comprehend. They claim to be "progressively tolerant" but tolerance to them means muslims coming to see "religion" as not important and nothing more than superstition that should be ignored or abandoned all-together. They are too dense to see that this is not going to work with muslims ... and all other problems flow from there.

4 hondo, no amount of respect shown to the Islamists will ever satisfy them, as they think they can attain their goals by belligerence and violence. This is why I feel we must join the secular Europeans in their fight against the Islamists if they in fact are willing to stand and not beg. I think it is a 50-50 possibility that they will fight, but it is too early to tell. I have my doubts about Britain and France, but some of the others may, although they are less able, both in numbers and resources. Denmark should take the lead and expell any Muslim who has threatened violence. Separating the radical and moderate factions of Islam would go a long way toward allowing the moderates to lose their fear of the radicals. I doubt whether many Muslims who are moderate will speak up due to fear of the radicals. We must help them, starting in Europe.

5 JJ Let the Euros sort it out for themselves. The secular Europeans are not fighting islam - what they are doing (had done) was mischievously disrepecting, insulting, and mocking a Religion - to them - just another religion. They have been doing this for decades (and you know that!). They just weren't prepared for a reaction. It will all cool off - the Euros (secular) will speak of dialog and education - and figure out how to blame the US. They will in their bizzaro way offer up sacifices on the altar of secular humanism - like the French - who ban headscrafs, crosses, medalions and the like - in the belief that no religion is good religion - and muslims will like that too (how wacky can you get!) The Euros have a shitload of problems - now and looming off in the future. And guess what JJ - they see us as THE BIG PROBLEM IN THEIR CONCEPTUAL UNIVERSE. I have no idea what they are going to do - but I'm not going to be their spine or fall guy. Let them dort it out - sit back and watch - and evalute the future.

10 I was once privy to information that contained various senerios and responses to US/USSR direct confrontation in Europe and other possible fronts. Would you all be shocked to know that some of those senerios included - several or all NATO allies suddenly declaring neutrality and/or negotiated surrender? The possibility of US forces (350K!)in Europe being passively and actively cut off from rear supply by same allies and civilian populations? All this with a Soviet assault on Western Europe! If the action is in another theater the chances actually increased! I could go on with the nightmare problems this would all entail. Fortunately, we never did find out with the end of the Cold War. But we did get a lil' taste in the Balkans - I know the Balkans very well! No one has yet explained to me why we had to deploy personnel and equipment from as far away as Ft Lewis Washington to the Balkans (bulk of personnel in theater and all combat personnel USA!) .... when I had previously been in the very same areas (in better times) on vacation - and I drove there by car from Munich! Hell! It was easier that the commute I did once from NY to DC! Understand me know?

USS Cole Bombing Mastermind Escapes

Jamal Ahmed Badawi, mastermind of the USS Cole bombing, has escaped from a Yemeni prison.

Interpol said it issued an Â“Orange Notice,Â” because he represents a Â“clear and present danger to all countries.Â”

InterpolÂ—The escape from a Yemen prison took place on Friday and involved a 140-metre long tunnel dug by the prisoners and co-conspirators outside. Yemeni officials have confirmed to Interpol that that the escapees included Jamal Ahmed Badawi mastermind of the bomb attack on the navy ship USS Cole in 2000, and Fawaz Yahya Al-Rabeei, one of those responsible for attacking the French tanker Limburg in 2002. ...

Jordanian editors arrested over Danish cartoon

From BBC News:

Two Jordanian newspaper editors who published cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad have been arrested.
Jihad Momani and Hisham Khalidi are accused of insulting religion under Jordan's press and publications law.

Here's what Momani wrote to accompany the cartoon:

"Muslims of the world be reasonable.
What brings more prejudice against Islam, these caricatures or pictures of a hostage-taker slashing the throat of his victim in front of the cameras or a suicide bomber who blows himself up during a wedding ceremony in Amman?"

Or a so-called moderate Islamic government that arrests editors for printing cartoons.

I was disappointed that such a statement would be made following their complete silence over the cartoons in our own papers and the tax payer funded "art" we've seen in recent years. I would have felt only marginally better had the State Department also condemned the behavior displayed by those making threats. But no mention was made in that respect. They made it sound like our free speech is more valid than theirs. When someone is killed over this, many will blame the cartoonists and not the killers. And the state department has inadvertantly propped them up by trying to "score points".

6 The U.S Government reaction to this should be unwavering and staunch, we should withdraw our diplomats from Jordan, and any other U.S asset in the area, cut off aid (if any) and make Jordan aware that we will not stand by and watch them execute 'apostates' and suppress freedom of speech, or press if we're serious about spreeding democracy in the middle-east. I am no fan of the Democrats but this administration has shown time and time again, it will turn a blind eye to some countries in order to get the results it wants ie: North Korea: brutal oppressive regime, China same, but sells us cheap goods. Iran radical fanatics in power, dangerous. Saudi Arabia, same but sells us oil. The problem in turning a blind eye, is eventually they'll poke the other one out too, as most of these countries rely on our money as much as we rely on their products we should hit them in the pocket. 8 I welcome the Cartoon War for this reason: moderate Muslims are now on notice that their entire religion is being blamed. The so-called moderates have been silent for too long, and when they do speak, it's about the "suffering" of Muslims being "persecuted" for "the crimes of a few". We saw how "few" when the Palestinians elected a recognized terrorist organization to serve as their government.

9 There is the possibility that the arrests in Jordan may be more protective in nature - along with cooling of elements of society that the islamists they to sway. A court proceeding takes time and sometimes allows for a sensible debate to develop over the issue at hand. I'll give the Jordanian govt the benefit of a doubt on this one - they tend to be the odd man out in the mideast looking to walk a fine line.

The basic problem, is that whatever this administration decides to do, it will be denounced and demonized and repeatedly broadcast world wide how it was the wrong thing to do. Whatever the decision may be. It would make no difference. You see, the dems in step with the useful idiots of MSM have sold their souls and freedoms for the lust of power. They have lost all common sense and logical reason for their short term satisfaction obsessed with the hatred of GWB. Think about this. Don't you think the radical rioting muslim's and the Kos 'kids' have frighteningly similar characteristics? 11 Maxie Bush's position is no different than mine - the cartoons are disrespectful and insulting - personally I wouldn't do this myself - its bad manners. But having said that ..... Its legal and in keeping with the ideals of free speech. And its pretty common in the West directed at many un-named groups and individuals. Nothing more need be said - just sit back and watch the "reaction" if the islamists - a picture is worth a thousand words - now isn't it? The cartoons are no longer the issue - the islamists and their behavior is - and that's important in public relations, public opinion, and public policy.

12 First, while the free press has to have the right to be free to print what they want, if it is slanderous, there are legal channels to pursue. Second, Muslims have a right to be offended, but not to threaten death and destruction. Period. With that out of the way, let's look at who is at fault for this mass hysteria. Not the Danish. These cartoons came out late September last year. Influential Muslims from Denmark then quietly went, armed with the pictures that were printed AND a few extras they tucked in there themselves, throughout the Middle East building a case with Islamic governments. For four months, barely a ripple in the pond. Then WHAMMO! The Middle East and South East Asian governments released the flood of horrors of what were essentially cartoon images and deliberately provoked the outrage you see today. This was carefully crafted and executed (excuse the pun) by evil people. Now, who's guilty of causing this insanity? And I ask all Muslims rampaging right now - who are the puppets? And regarding the State Department's "quote". Get over to rightwingnuthouse to find out what they really said. I should have known better. Shame on me.

We wrote freedom of speech into our law, we tolerate worse things depicted on much more decent things given our conviction to OUR constitution. 16 I can't believe these religeous zelots are so concerned with cartoons...if they truly care for Muslims, they need to worry about the effect Iran could possibly have on them. So far every time we go in and EASILY knock one of these countries down in a few days, would be minutes if we were truly commited to war, we hang out and wipe their little bloody noses and change their little diapers. If Iran and Hamas spread us out...we will have no option but to just crush them all like bugs...and there ain't a dang thing they can do about it but cry like little babies with dirty diapers after the fact...if you want to burn something...try Iran's consulate for your own good!

I'll go out on the limb here - I actually think they want to provoke a backlash so they can play out their aspirations - not on the streets of Europe (media events) - but back home - possibly against their own governments which they tend to see an illegitimate.

18 Regardless of all the fine and valid points made, this is all just pointless talk, because we all know wherein the real problem lies, and whether many of us are willing to admit it or not, we also know the only viable solution to that problem is to expel these uncivilized animals from among us, and crush any of their nations that threates us or supports action against us. It's time to get medieval on their asses and show them some real pain.
